Domestic abuse—sometimes called domestic violence or intimate partner violence—is about power and control. It often shows up as a pattern of behavior in which one person uses fear, intimidation, or harm to control someone they are close to. While it most commonly occurs between intimate partners, abuse can also affect children, family members, or others living in the same household.
Abuse doesn’t always look the same, and it doesn’t always involve visible injuries. Over time, it can cause deep physical and emotional harm and leave survivors feeling isolated, overwhelmed, or afraid to speak up.
For many survivors, the idea of confronting an abuser—especially in a courtroom—can feel terrifying. At Devlin Legal, we approach these cases with safety, care, and dignity at the center. I work closely with trusted local organizations to connect clients with the support they need to heal, and create a space where survivors can feel safe, supported, and empowered to advocate for themselves.
